Gender Conflict Workshop In Newcastle

Attachment, neuroscience and gender: why we are wired for difference and what we can do about it

This workshop will explore the gender differences that commonly occur between men and women and how this impacts on men’s relationships and experiences with social support services.

Gender Conflict

Often men and woman talk without hearing each other and perceive the same thing very differently. This can result in increasing levels of frustration conflict and disconnection.

Simon will draw from neuroscience, attachment, trauma and masculine psychology to explain the difficulties in gendered communication. He will present a model that highlights the cycle of interpersonal misunderstandings and conflict, and offer strategies which clients and participants can use to resolve conflict in their personal and professional lives.

Simon has successfully used this approach to:

  • help men form respectful co-parenting relationships with their ex-partners
  • effectively engage men to access social support services
  • reduce conflict between mothers and their teenage sons
  • improve relationships between couples
  • reduce interpersonal conflict within workplace settings.

This workshop will be presented at the ‘Engaging Men’ training seminar hosted by Men’s Health Forum NSW. This will be the first National two day men’s health, wellbeing and relationship training seminar to be held in Newcastle on March 14 and 15 2013.
